How to Prevent Divorce & Save Marriage?

Preventing Divorce in Islam

Marriage is a culturally and/or legally recognized union between a man and a woman. But in Islam marriage is also a sacred bond that has a prominent footprint on the future of a society. That’s why Islam provides Muslims with specific guidelines on how to have successful marriages.

One requirement for the success of every marriage is a mutual understanding of the individuals’ rights and obligations towards each other. These rights and responsibilities are defined differently in various places around the world, depending on the cultural background. But Islam has defined specific requirements for Muslim couples regardless of their culture. This religion has placed much emphasis on the importance of choosing a good spouse, treating he or she right, and holding the family together with mutual love and respect to guarantee a fruitful life.

But as with other marriages, Muslim marriages are not always successful. What then is the Islamic solution when a marriage does not work? Though divorce is a permissible act in Islam, it is always the last option. In general, Islam does not view divorce favorably and it is strongly discouraged. However, Islamic sources and Islamic jurisprudence outline the process of divorce in detail. Divorce in Islam can take a variety of forms (different types), some initiated by the husband and some initiated by the wife.

Although divorce can be an answer to a bad marriage, prevention is always better than cure. For Muslims, preventing divorce starts even before marriage. This video is all about how Islam can help in preventing divorce and saving marriages. Watch and let us know what you think in the comments.
